SISTAWorks will hold its 3rd annual benefit concert at Café Istanbul in the Healing Center.
Proceeds benefit the SISTA Scholar Program to help girls from Ghana’s rural northern areas complete their secondary school education (high school), as well as local programming to culturally enrich the educational experiences of adolescent girls in New Orleans.
Please join a fabulous line-up of all women, all New Orleans’ most talented musicians, poets, and artists for “RESPECT: A Musical Tribute to Aretha Franklin.”
The evening celebrates the collective talent of New Orleans’ women and girls and will pay homage to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, whose music became the soundtrack for the Civil Rights and the Women’s movements in the 1960’s with her song, Respect, the rally call for turbulent times. The evening will include an opening reception, silent auction and musical interpretations of Aretha Franklin’s work interspersed with a variety of other artistic performances.
